HCF Fit and Well : Summer 2012
A MESSAGE FROM THE MD Welcome to the summer edition of fit&well. 2011 proved to be another year of successful growth for the largest not-for-profit health insurer in Australia. We are focused on fulfilling our 'more for members' promise by operating our business efficiently and cost effectively. HCF continues to deliver value for our members. In 2010/11, HCF returned 90 cents in the dollar in health care benefits to members, significantly higher than the 85 cents average of other funds. On pages 25-27, John Dunlop, our Chairman, reports on our performance for the last financial year. We have also proposed some changes to the corporate governance structure of HCF to better align the interests of Members of the Company with the interests of policyholders. The Chairman's Report explains how these changes affect you. The benefits to members of the My Health Guardian program continued this year. The program provides members with health assessment and ongoing health management advice from health specialists via online and telephone- based facilities. See page 9 for our story on the impact a sedentary lifestyle can have on you and how My Health Guardian can help you get active. HCF has also been busy growing existing programs and launching other new member services to enhance member health and wellbeing, including Healthy Weight for Life programs, Helping Hands and CRUfAD. We discuss these programs in more detail on page 6. We continue to strive for the highest level of customer service so as to exceed our member expectations. In the last year HCF has received a number of awards in recognition that HCF gives more value to members. Page 8 features a number of our recent awards. We wish you all a happy and safe 2012 and we look forward to caring for your health for many years to come. He spent five days in hospital with the first operation then returned to the same hospital for the second just three weeks later. We have been with HCF since 1966. I have nothing but praise for the service over all these years. Without HCF this time we would not have been able to have these operations performed so quickly by a leading surgeon in a private hospital. Thank you, HCF, for making such a difference to my life.
